Why do people lose the ability to stabilize blood sugar as they age?

The body works hard to maintain the right levels of glucose (blood sugar) in the blood. When we eat, the body releases insulin, a chemical that tells the cells to open and allow glucose (the cell’s fuel) into the cell. Modern diets high in fats and sugars weaken the body’s ability to regulate itself. The body can become resistant to insulin and refuse to respond, or it may not produce enough insulin. Over time, the body’s responses to insulin can leave older people more susceptible to blood-sugar imbalances.

How is blood sugar tied to insulin?

The body supplies cells with fuel in the form of glucose. Glucose travels through the body in the blood stream, waiting for insulin to opens the cells and allow the glucose to enter. A helpful agent is chromium. Chromium enhances the effectiveness of insulin, allowing more glucose into the cells.* This increases cell metabolism and reduces the build-up of glucose in the blood.* Diabet-X contains high levels of chromium in a form the body can easily absorb and use.

Why is it so important to maintain blood sugar within normal levels?

When the body can’t maintain normal blood sugar levels, insulin resistance increases. What role do antioxidants play?

Diabet-X contains bilberry, a fruit that contains anthocyanosides, plant pigments high in antioxidants.* This antioxidant activity helps neutralize free radicals and maintain inflammation response within normal levels.*
